The trailer to Wally Pfister's "Transcendence" has premiered online.

The new movie, starring Johnny Depp, tells the story of two leading computer scientists who work toward their goal of Technological Singularity, as a radical anti-technology organization fights to prevent them from creating a world where computers can transcend the abilities of the human brain.

The new teaser does not appear to contain any actual footage and instead features a voiceover of Depp. The teaser is reminiscent to a Christopher Nolan trailer as the teaser asks questions but reveals little.

Depp was recently seen in "The Lone Ranger" and "Dark Shadows." He is best known for his work in the "Pirates of the Caribbean" series. He has also been seen in "Finding Neverland," "The Tourist," "The Run Diary," "Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street," and "Ed Wood." He will next be seen in "Into the Woods," and "Alice in Wonderland 2."

Pfister is making his directorial debut after working as cinematographer on "The Dark Knight" series, "The Prestige," "Moneyball," "Inception," "The Italian Job," "Memento," and "Slow Burn." Pfister won an Academy Award for his work on "Inception" and was nominated for three other films.

The film also stars Kate Mara ("House of Cards"), Morgan Freeman ("Last Vegas"), Paul Bettany ("The Da-Vinci Code"), Cillian Murphy ("Batman Begins"), and Rebecca Hall ("Vicky Christina Barcelona"). Jack Paglen wrote the script with Marisa Polvino, and Kate Cohen producing the film along with David Valdes, Broderick Johnson and Andrew Kosove. Warner Bros. will release the film on April 18.
