"Customers can begin to preorder for our new 4G services from Dec. 12 through the company's website and some dedicated branches in Shanghai. But we will only start providing commercial 4G services after Dec. 18," said a China Mobile customer services operator, via the Wall Street Journal.
The launch of the iPhone 5s with China Mobile comes as the Chinese mobile carrier is set to debut its 4G coverage. China Mobile plans to reveal its 4G services with partner Guangzhou on Dec. 18 and hopes the new high-speed service and iPhone availability will attract new customers. According to China Mobile's website, its 4G services will be available in Beijing, Guangzhou, Nanjing, Shenzhen, Shanghai, and Tianjian.
As Latinos Post reported, China Mobile has more than 700 million subscribers, making it the largest mobile carrier in the world.
Apple's iPhones have been available in China via other mobile carriers such as China Telecom and China Unicom.
