Singer Jennifer López filed a lawsuit to recover her name after she had to change it when she married Puerto Rican Marc Anthony, according to People en Español.
Jennifer Muñiz was the name JLo acquired when she married Marc Anthony, and it is the reason she's fighting in courts since she wants to continue her artistic career under the legal name of Jennifer López.
After seven years of marriage, Marc Anthony and Jennifer López separated under good terms for the benefit of their children, Emme and Max, 5-year-old twins.
Entertainment website TMZ pointed out that the only thing keeping Jennifer López in courts after her divorce is her desire to recover her old name to sign documents with legal value.
All documents signed by the singer since her marriage were signed under the name of Jennifer Muñiz, according to E! News and that's why the singer seeks to recover her identity, internationally acknowledged by her fans as Jennifer López.
After her divorce, both singers have shown a cordial relationship in public and a friendship based on mutual support. On October, Marc Anthony presented his latest single "3.0" in Mexico City where he spoke of the book JLo is going to publish.
In her book, JLo will write about her personal life and Marc Anthony said he hopes he's in it since he considers he was important in JLo's life. He explained that he won't sue her since besides being the mother of his children, she's her friend and still cares for her after 7 years of marriage. He also made it clear that their relationship is good, saying that JLo is a wonderful woman and an incredible mother.
Currently, the singer is in a relationship with dancer Casper Smart and reportedly told People that the dancer helped her get out of the depression she suffered after breaking up with Marc Anthony.
