The death of South African leader Nelson Mandela, whose health had been failing for five months due to a degenerative disease, has shocked the entire world.

Mandela, 95, lost a long battle against a pulmonary infection that had kept him hospitalized since last June. He died on Thursday, December 5.

His inexhaustible fight for racial equality and democracy in South Africa, however, will be remembered by billions of people around the world, who have been inspired by Madiba, one of the world's symbols of reconciliation and forgiveness.

The former South African President, who was jailed for 27 years due to his fight against the racist Apartheid regime, is one of the greatest examples of forgiveness and reconciliation in the entire world, and the echoes of his teachings will continue to inspire millions.

Latinos Post gathered a selection of tweets by celebrities regarding the passing of 1993's Nobel Peace Prize winner.
