Matt Smith is rumored to star in the upcoming "Star Wars: Episode VII."

Smith has been referenced various times as a potential actor for the film and Bleeding Cool is reporting that the rumors may be true. According to an unidentified source, the rumors may be "well-placed."

Smith is leaving the acclaimed show "Doctor Who" and this could be one of the reasons.

Aside from Smith, British actor Jason Flemyng is also rumored for a role after he was caught uploading a picture of what he claimed to be a script for JJ Abrams' new film.

The actor posted a picture on Instagram of a red document with a beer resting on top of it along with the caption stating, "Pint of Stella and 'Star Wars' script! That's me sorted till 5!" However, the picture was later deleted.

Smith is best known for his work on "Doctor Who," "Bert & Dickier," "Clone," and will be seen in the upcoming film "How To Catch a Monster," which also stars Saoirse Ronan, Eva Mendes and Christina Hendricks.

Flemyng has been seen in "X-Men: First Class," "The Curious Case of Benjamin Button," "Great Expectations" and "Welcome to the Punch." He will next be seen in "Cutter" and "Gemma Bovery."

"Star Wars: Episode VII" will be released on Dec. 18, 2015, with production slated to begin production in January. The film will be directed by J.J Abrams and produced by Kathleen Kennedy.
