This ain't your daddy's Batman. According to producer Daniel Alter, audiences will greet a distinctly new take on the iconic super hero in the upcoming film "Batman vs. Superman."
Alter wrote on Twitter that the new Batman is no longer talking to Robin and is controlling. He tweeted, "wait for #BatmanvsSuperman.. #batfleck semi-retired/not speaking to Robin anymore.. Controlling drones from the batcave."
These are first tidbits that have been revealed about the character since producers revealed that the new Batman would be a tired and weary man and different from the one in "The Dark Knight" films.
Director Zack Snyder ("300" ) and writer David Goyer ("The Dark Knight") are basing the films on Frank Miller's "The Dark Knight Returns" series of comics, in which Batman is an old, grizzly man who has retired from crime fighting.
Alter is best known for his work on "Hitman" and "The Apparition." He is currently working on "Kane & Lynch," which will star Gerard Butler and Vin Diesel.
"Batman vs. Superman" is currently in pre-production and casting the female love interest from Batman. The film has already begun shooting B-roll in Los Angeles. The movie will star Henry Cavill as Superman and Ben Affleck as Batman. Amy Adams ("The Master"), Diane Lane ("Unfaithful") and Laurence Fishburne ("The Matrix") will reprise their roles from "Man of Steel." The film will be produced by Deborah Snyder ("Man of Steel") and Charles Roven ("The Dark Knight"). Warner Bros. will release the film on July 17, 2015 and will begin principal photography in Detroit, Mich. in February.
