After dropping his award-winning platinum LP "Recovery" in 2010, Eminem fans were forced to wait three years for the hip hop icon to release another full-length studio album, and here's why: Slim Shady admits that he was just "too lazy" to finish it.
On Nov. 5, the 40-year-old rap legend debuted the "Marshall Mathers LP 2," finally answering the calls of fans who have been patiently waiting for the Grammy Award-winning rapper to release more music since "Recovery" won a slew of awards and sold more than 5.7 million copies worldwide back in 2010.
When asked why it took so long for him to release his eighth studio album, Em confessed that he was more interested in working on other projects than finishing his latest record.
He told French radio station NRJ: "I did the 'Recovery' album then I started working on some side projects for Shady Records, the label. I did some producing on a YelaWolf album and the Slaughterhouse album I did a collaboration album with Royce da 5'9" called 'Bad Meets Evil'. In the middle of all that I was recording for this album."
Shady added that, "It's basically because I'm lazy that it took so long. Now that the album is done, I'm finally going to shower."
Next year, the iconic rapper will kick off a tour in the Australia, where he'll bring rap sensations Kendrick Lamar and J. Cole along with him.
According to Billboard, the hip-hop superstar will headline four stadium shows in February. The run will open with Eminem's first-ever date in New Zealand on Feb. 15, followed by performances in each of Australia's big-three cities: Melbourne on Feb. 19, Brisbane on Feb. 20 and Sydney on Feb. 22.
Promoter Paul Dainty's Dainty Group promises that the concerts, which are billed under the name "Rapture," will be a "game-changing hip-hop event."
