Two cases were solved on the latest episode of "NCIS." The first case was a hit-and-run, and the other was a murder committed by the suspect in the hit-and-run, which was also the suspect's alibi.
The suspect, named Dunne, obviously could not tell the NCIS team that a murder was his alibi. While his lawyer, Carrie Clark (Salli Richardson-Whitfield), a former FBI agent, could possibly clear him of culpability in the hit-and-run, she didn't want him to get away with the other murder. Although she was bound to secrecy by attorney-client privilege, she helped lead the team to the truth by pointing to elements that didn't add up in her client's story.
NCIS took Clark's word and dropped Dunne as a suspect, but kept him in custody so they could get evidence against him for the other crime. They then went to track down the man who was really responsible for the hit-and-run. In the end, Dunne was charged for murder and conspiracy to commit murder. It turns out Dunne was part of a group who swapped murderous deeds in the hope that their crimes wouldn't be tied back to them.
Meanwhile, McGee (Sean Murray) noticed that Tony's (Michael Weatherly) behavior was odd. It's revealed that Tony joined a men's support group at a local church, and is trying to change his ways.
Gibbs (Mark Harmon) also struck up a relationship with Clark.
On the next "NCIS," called "Gut Check," the team will investigate governmental spying.
The synopsis reads: "When it's discovered the Secretary of the Navy was bugged during a confidential briefing, the NCIS team must work with NSA analyst Ellie Bishop to help determine who is responsible."
On the next episode, Emily Wickersham will make her debut as NSA analyst Ellie Bishop. Executive Producer Gary Glasberg told TVLine that Bishop will first advise Gibbs' team, and will eventually join it. Glasberg said that the dynamic is "new - there's no doubt about it - but it's very much 'NCIS.' Nothing has changed in terms of that."
"[Bishop] possesses an interesting mind, an intellectual, smart way to approach doing what this team does - not with kicks and punches and knocking down doors but by really thinking," he continued. "She's very much a thinker."
On the following episode on Dec. 10, "Devils Triad," Glasberg said there will be the "third incarnation of the relationship between Gibbs and Fornell and their ex-wife (Linda McGraw)."
Then the Dec. 17 holiday episode, "Homesick," will focus on people stricken by a virus that has a connection to the military. "It involves Abby, and she brings in the help of her lab tech friend Carol Wilson (played by Pauley Perrette's real-life BFF Meredith Eaton," Glasberg said.
