Hetty's career--and potentially the future of Los Angeles-- was on the line on the latest episode of "NCIS: LA."
On the episode "Fallout," a man who is accessing a computer at the Department of Energy is shot at by a masked man. A security guard intervenes and tries to take down the masked man, but the man is wearing a bulletproof vest. The guard snaps a photo of the license plate as the shooter gets away.
It turns out the shooter had gotten hold of what the man was accessing on his computer: the US MINDS (Miniature Integrated Nuclear Detection System) locations, which are anti-terrorism devices that can locate sources of radiation. If terrorists know where the devices are, they could know where to transport bombs.
A worker at the Department of Energy was drugged the night before and had his passkey stolen, which was how the hacker had managed to access the database.
The team eventually tracks down a warehouse, where they find maps pinpointed with possible targets for a dirty bomb attack.
The team follows an alert and finds Ferat Hadad, the shooter, but they discover that he does not have a bomb on him.
They find out they're being watched, and it's a man Hetty recognizes. Hetty (Linda Hunt) suspects that the man, named Griffin--who she had suspected of selling secrets when his team initiated the nuclear detection program years ago--is the one responsible. Her investigation of him cost him his career, and if he was behind the bomb plan, it could mean the end of her career.
The team eventually tracks him down, and Hetty faces off with Griffin. He tells her that he sold the nuclear detection technology to the Russians. To save Hetty's career- and potentially the city of L.A.--they have to get the drives from the Russians.
Kensi (Daniela Ruah) and Deeks (Eric Christian Olsen) pose as gas company workers and tell the Russians that everyone is being evacuated because of a gas leak. But Sam (LL Cool J) and Callen (Chris O'Donnell) find two men upstairs upon entering the building. They end up jumping out of a window onto the truck Deeks is driving as Russians shoot after them.
The Russians are then forced to admit that they stole the program in the first place, and a major crisis is averted.
On the next episode, "Recovery," "The death of a naval officer sends Kensi and Deeks uncover at a rehabilitation facility."
TVLine also reported that Andrew Leeds, who played "Bones" bad guy Pelant, will have a major recurring role on this season of "NCIS: LA." Leeds will play Booker, the team's new tech operator who is smart, terse and has a bit of OCD.
Check out the promo for "Recovery," which airs Tuesday at 9 p.m. on CBS.
