Miss Universe for 2013 tweeted about her distaste with the government of the late Venezuelan President Hugo Chávez, expressing her discontent with the state of her country and criticizing Chávez' policies.
According to the Venezuelan Carabobeña News Agency, in 2011, María Isler tweeted on her account @Molly_Isler a message about her discontent with Hugo Chávez.
María Isler said that she had suffered from the deficiencies and shortages Venezuela is currently going through, complaining about the lack of electricity in her house and blaming the government for it.

Besides the lack of electricity in homes, the news agency points out that the model had spent days without potable water services in her home.
However, after her coronation, the current Bolivarian government led by President Nicolás Maduro congratulated María Isler for her achievement on Saturday, November 9.
The Venezuelan President tweeted:
Congratulations María Gabriela Isler for her triumph, which is Venezuela's triumph, may God bless her forever!!! pic.twitter.com/OTNwOh8BMy

The Carabobeña News Agency highlights that the government of Venezuela doesn't want Isler's political ideology to become widely known, as she seems to be against her current President.
Another message that exposed 2013's Miss Universe's political posture was a tweet from June, 2010, where she also criticized the government of the late Hugo Chávez.
After the media took note of María Isler's tweet, her Twitter account @Molly_Isler was restricted and all of her messages became private.
The Venezuelan model is using the official accounts of the Miss Universe pageant to tweet in English (@MissUniverse) and Spanish (@MVUniverso12), an account she has used since she was crowned Miss Venezuela 2012.
