A New York City teenager is lucky to have only lost an eye and not his life after pulling a dangerous prank known as subway surfing on top of a Brooklyn-bound F train on Tuesday.

Seventeen-year-old Isa Islam smashed his head into a metal beam and nearly died while he was riding on top of a train car with friends.

A train operator spotted the Brooklyn teen atop the F train heading towards the Fourth Avenue-9th Street stop in Park Slope with three others and radioed authorities shortly before the teen hit a metal beam, said sources according to the New York Post.

The other teens he was with could not be found on the train or in the tunnel, sources added.

Islam was rushed to Lutheran Medical Center where he is said to have been fighting for his life after losing an eye, reports the Post.

Just days earlier, another man was killed while surfing atop a train in Manhattan. Last Wednesday, a barefoot homeless man was killed after he got on top of a downtown 6 train as it entered the 96th Street station and was also hit by a beam.

Authorities say that the 45-year-old man was high on synthetic marijuana at the time and fell between cars after hitting a beam.

A friend of the doomed man said that he forewarned him about smoking K2 before he climbed on the train.

"He was hanging out, getting high. I told him, 'Stop getting high off that s-t," Pablo Reyes told the New York Daily News. "It ain't no good for you. He probably was hallucinating. He was standing up with his hands open. He saw the beam coming. He laid down. He tried to duck down. It opened his head right up."
