Over the summer, Luis Suarez battled to get transferred out of Liverpool and join a top club like Arsenal and Real Madrid. He never got his wish and after a public feud with his club, the striker apologized and made a return to Anfield. He has been terrific ever since and seems intent on leaving the team.
The striker recently stated that he had no idea about any transfers to Real Madrid and emphasized that he was happy for the time being.
"I know nothing of any interest from Real Madrid, and I am happy with Liverpool," Suarez said, according to ESPN. "In the team we are all really excited, and looking forward to a good season. We have been at the top so far, and we are still aiming at the top -- we still have momentum and we can believe that the top spot is marked for us.
"We believe in the team and we believe we can have a really good season -- an exciting season."
Suarez has scored six goals and one assist thus far in 2013-14 and has formed a lethal partnership with forward Daniel Sturridge. The English international has also voiced his desire to continue playing alongside the Uruguayan.
"Everyone wants Luis to stay at the club. It's up to Luis to decide what he wants to do. If he believes it's best for him to move on, then that's the way it's got to be," said Sturridge. "But the club, the players and the fans all want him to stay and I'm sure he will."
Sturridge has scored eight goals and two assists this season but has been at his best when playing alongside Suarez.
Liverpool is in third place in the Premier League.
