Google recently released Android 4.4 KitKat, and while it's clear that Google-branded Nexus devices will receive the update as soon as possible, release time frames for devices from manufacturers like HTC and Samsung are still up in the air. Luckily for Samsung Galaxy Note 3 owners, it looks like KitKat is just around the corner.

Website SamMobile, well known for its reliable track record when it comes to Android firmwares and Samsung devices, confirmed that Samsung has started testing the Galaxy Note 3 Android 4.4 KitKat update.

It's not official, but given SamMobile's history, it's safe to say that Samsung will be pushing out KitKat soon.

The Samsung Galaxy Note 3 recently released in the United States to much fanfare, and the smartphone has continued Samsung's success in the phablet market. The Galaxy Note 3 runs Android 4.3 Jelly Bean out of the box.

Android 4.4 KitKat is the biggest overhaul to the Android operating system since Jelly Bean hit the same back in 2012. Google has introduced a more colorful, cleaner aesthetic to the interface as a whole, and there are more customization options than ever before. Google placed a special emphasis on Google Now, integrating the intelligent personal assistant into more phone functions than ever before in hopes of displaying the relevant information before the user even asks.
