Nintendo has released its financial results from the third quarter of 2013, and the company encountered mixed numbers.
The sales for the Wii U console have increased as Nintendo saw 300,000 new users. The number of users added is approximately double from the 160,000 sold during the second quarter this year.
Nintendo, however, is still distant from the goal of nine million Wii U systems sold by the time March 2014 arrives.

As Engadget noted, the Wii U has sold 3.91 million units in total.
Games sold for the Wii U hovered around the 20 million units total, which Nintendo credited to the strong sales of the latest "Pikmin" game.
Despite the increase of Wii U units sold, Nintendo still suffered a loss in profits. As Latinos Post reported, Nintendo reduced the price of the Wii U system. By the end of the third quarter of 2013, Nintendo occurred a loss of about $82 million, or 8,024 million yen.
The positives for Nintendo concerns the sales of the Nintendo 3DS.
The handheld gaming system sold two million Nintendo 3DS and Nintendo 3DS XL consoles, which brought a total of 35 million units sold since its launch.
The latest sales numbers for the Nintendo 3DS, however, are without the introduction of "Pokémon X and Y," which launched simultaneously worldwide on Oct. 12.
Meanwhile, the limited edition "Pokémon X and Y" Nintendo 3DS XL is on sale on Amazon.com with a 52 percent discount. Amazon is selling the red Nintendo 3DS XL model for $239.96 while the blue variant will cost $242. Regardless of the model color, Amazon is offering free shipping with the product's purchase. As of 11 a.m. EST on Nov. 3, only one unit for the red model is in stock.
As Latinos Post reported, four million copes of the latest Pokémon games were sold during its first weekend launch. The sales of the Kalos-region-based games set a record for the Nintendo 3DS handset console.
"Pokémon X and Y" includes nearly 70 new Pokémon, Mega Evolution, and the Pokémon Amie feature, which is the method to evolve the latest Eevee evolution, Sylveon.
As a reminder, the games also feature the Torchic distribution event, which has been available since Oct. 12 and ends Jan. 15, 2014. Torchic will be available with the item "Blazikenite," which will transform Torchic's last evolution, Blaziken, into "MegaBlaziken." Wi-Fi connection is needed to obtain the Fire-type Hoenn starter Pokémon.
