The trailer to "X-men: Days of Future Past" has been released, but just how much does it tell us about the upcoming film?
A few days after 20th Century Fox posted an exclusive trailer on Vine, the company finally released the trailer to a mass audience. The trailer provides a first look at the time travel element as Professor Xavier tells Wolverine to go to the past and help his younger self change the direction that he is moving in. It also gives a glimpse of many of the X-Men characters including Rouge, The Beast, Mystique, Blink, Storm and Iceman.
The new film tells the story of the X-Men who must send Wolverine to the past to change a major historical event that could globally impact man and mutant kind.
The film is directed by Bryan Singer who was responsible for the creation of the first two X-Men films. During a press conference the director said that the film would most likely make fans forget about the much-hated third installment directed by Brett Ratner. "Whenever you go back in time, and this is every bit as much a time travel movie as it is an X-Men movie, there are those risks. If you believe in certain physics and multiverses, you have to have respect for the continuity as we had. I believe certain continuity will maintain, and some things will change. It's the nature of time travel. If you go back and mess with time, things happen..." said Singer.
"X-Men: Days of Future Past" will be released on May 23, 2014 and also stars James McAvoy, Fassbender, Jennifer Lawrence, Nicholas Hoult, Sir Patrick Stewart, Sir Ian McKellen, Hugh Jackman, Halle Berry, Anna Paquin, Shawn Ashmore and Ellen Page.
