Aaron Taylor-Johnson has officially been cast as Quicksilver in "Avengers: Age of Ultron."
The Wrap is reporting that the actor has worked out a deal with Marvel to play Pietro Maximoff, also known as the speedster Quicksilver in Marvel's Avengers sequel.
The news has been circulating for the past month, but it the official announcement was reportedly delayed due to reshoots Taylor-Johnson was working on for the upcoming reboot to "Godzilla."
Taylor-Johnson's casting immediately set off fan reactions, with most praising the casting choice. One user said, "With Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Elizabeth Olsen and James Spader in the movie, THE AVENGERS: AGE OF ULTRON may have the best CBM cast ever."
Another user said, "hell yeah!!! I like this choice!," while another said, "Can't wait to see him kick-ass in Avengers 2! LOL!"
Taylor-Johnson recently reprised the role of Kick Ass in "Kick-Ass 2" and also starred in "Anna Karenina." The actor has also been seen in "Nowhere Boy," "Savages," "The Illusionist" and "Albert Nobbs." He will also be seen in the upcoming "Godzilla."
"Avengers: Age of Ultron" is currently in pre-production with Elizabeth Olsen reportedly playing the Scarlet Witch. James Spader is playing Ultron while Robert Downey Jr. will reprise the role of Iron Man. Meanwhile, Chris Hemsworth will play Thor, Chris Evans will reprise Captain America and Mark Ruffalo will play The Hulk. Scarlet Johannson and Jeremy Renner will also join the cast alongside Samuel L. Jackson. Plot details for the film have been kept under wraps with few details about the film revealed.
Joss Whedon will direct the film, which is slated to start production in early 2014. The film will be released in 2015.
