Harrison Ford is rumored to have signed on to act in more than one new "Star Wars" film.
According to Jedi News, the actor is using the upcoming "Star Wars" film as a way to jump-start the next "Indiana Jones," which Steven Spielberg has plans to make. Ford reportedly wants to reprise Solo in more than one film. "Ford wanted to see the synopsis for his character's development over more than just Episode 7. He saw this in August and is happy with the story arc," reported Jedi News.
"Ford wanted a commitment to Indy 5. He did not get this as there is no plot line or script in place. What did happen was an agreement was made wherein an outline would be developed by the end of calendar year 2014, and if all parties can agree to it moving forward, efforts would be made to move on Indy 5 for release before the end of 2016," the unidentified source added.
Ford is currently promoting the upcoming "Ender's Game," which stars Asa Butterfield and Ben Kingsley. He recently starred in "42" for which he is currently receiving Oscar buzz.
"Star Wars: Episode VII" has been casting for a number of months with many speculating Ford, Mark Hamill and Carrie Fisher will return from the original series. Saoirse Ronan, Zac Efron, and Benedict Cumberbatch have all allegedly auditioned. However, casting has not been confirmed.
The film was originally written by Michael Arndt, but Lucasfilms recently announced that Lawrence Kasdan would be doing rewrites. The film will be directed by J.J Abrams and produced by Kathleen Kennedy. Production is slated to begin in January with a release date scheduled for 2015.
