On the last "Hawaii Five-0," Adam got into some major trouble and one character met their demise.
In episode five, "Kapu 'eu" (Fallen Hero), Adam (Ian Anthony Dale), who is still in Hong Kong with Kono (Grace Park), is cornered by Yakuza and taken right in front of Kono's eyes.
Back in Hawaii, Billy (Justin Bruening) and Catherine (Michelle Borth) are on a stakeout to gather evidence for a woman, Abby Cutler, to prove that her husband is having an affair. They photograph the husband and the other woman engaged in their illicit rendezvous. When the woman leaves, a person walks into the house and shoots the husband. Billy and Catherine get out of the car to take down the shooter, and a gunfight ensues. Billy and Catherine are both shot, and Billy is critically injured. Billy later dies from his gunshot wound.
Later, a burner phone that the woman's cheating husband used to contact his mistress leads to a car ID. When McGarrett (Alex O'Loughlin) and Catherine find the car, they discover the shooter's body in the trunk.
They later find that the husband has been downloading classified data from his wife's laptop at work. He downloaded data on his flash drive and sold it to someone. They found that he was selling classified information from his wife's company to another corporation.
The team finds the company's owner and questions him under suspicion of corporate espionage and murder. The owner admits to the cleanup of the murder scene in order to separate himself from the deceased man, but denies the murder.
The team later finds that blood found at the crime scene shows that Billy shot the killer. The DNA of the killer matches Jason Kroll, a suspected hit man. They go to Kroll's house, and he opens fire on the team. After firing back, McGarrett breaks into the room and finds him on the floor, dying. After his death, they find out that the spurned wife sent an email to Kroll to kill her husband.
Yet, they find out that Abby was out at the time the email was sent. In fact, her assistant sent the email. Before the assistant is taken into custody, he confesses his love for Abby, revealing his motive for her husband's murder.
The ends at Billy's wake. While there, Joe (Terry O'Quinn) tells McGarrett that his mother is alive and active again.
On the next episode, "Kapouli 'la," Hawaiian for "Broken," the team takes on a spooky case.
