After  getting into another scuffle and spending more time in jail over the weekend, it comes as no surprise that Chris Brown's family and friends are worried about his well being.

According to an inside source, many people routing for the 24-year-old pop singer think he needs rehab and intensive therapy, reports E! News.

"He's a good kid, but he keeps messing up," said the insider. "He needs help. He keeps self-medicating with weed and alcohol and that's when he always gets in trouble."

The source says concerns escalated after he was arrested in Washington, D.C. Sunday for allegedly punching one of his male fans and using a homophobic slur.

"No one is making excuses for Chris," the source said. "No one is condoning what he has done. But what people don't realize is how bad it's gotten for him. He has all this money and success and he keeps apologizing, but he continues to be one of the most hated people in the business. He gets depressed and then self-medicates. He has a lot of yes-people around him who don't want to help. They just want the money and want to have a good time."

The altercation occurred Sunday around 4:30 a.m. after Brown left The Park at Fourteen nightclub where he was hosting a party in celebration of Howard University's homecoming.

While he was approaching his tour bus, he got into a scuffle with a man identified as 20-year-old Isaac Adams Parker of Beltsville, Maryland.  Brown's camp claims that Parker was trying to enter his tour bus, however a police report obtained by CNN states that Parker tried to jump into a photo in which Brown was posing with a female fan on the sidewalk. Brown then reportedly yelled "I'm not down with that gay s--t" and "I feel like boxing" before he punched him in the face with his closed fist, the report said.

Parker also told police that Brown's bodyguard stepped in and punched him in the face again.

Parker was treated for a bruised and swollen face and released from the hospital. A TMZ  report reveals that Parker may have had his nose broken and will require surgery.

Brown and one of his bodyguards were arrested and charged with felony assault.  He spent 36 hours behind bars before he appeared in court Monday where a judge reduced the charges against him to simple assault misdemeanors, reports CNN.

Brown was also ordered to report to his California probation officer within 48 hours and to stay at least 100 yards away from the man he is accused of assaulting early Sunday. Both men must return to court on November 24.
