Trying to pin down the release date for the Google Nexus 5 at this point can be quite the exercise in futility given the amount of speculation surrounding the device, but a rather reliable insider has now stepped up to the plate with his own prediction. If it's true, the Nexus 5 should release Nov. 1, and it looks like there will be a white variant.
The date comes courtesy of @evleaks, a well-known Android insider who has managed to leak accurate information regarding many devices in the past. His tweet, which includes press renders of black and white Nexus 5 variants, simply reads: "In white. 11/1."
Of course, nothing has been confirmed, and @evleaks doesn't exactly clarify what Nov. 1 stands for, but it's hard to imagine it being anything else but the handset's release date. Still, given the amount of date changes so far, one would be wise to sit tight until Google comes clean.
The Nexus 5 was originally rumored to show up mid-October, and once it didn't, almost every other date on the calendar has been thrown around by one publication or another. At this point, most are betting Google will want to reveal the smartphone at the end of October/beginning of November so that holiday shoppers with fat wallets will have the option of purchasing one. Oh, and let's not forget, Android 4.4 KitKat is expected to make its debut alongside the Nexus 5.
The Google Nexus 5 is rumored to come equipped with a 5-inch 1080p Full HD display, a 2.3GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor, 2GB RAM, and LTE support. The 16GB model is said to cost $399 while the 32GB variant should set buyers back $349.
