Rapid Vienna and Racing Genk will face off in a pivotal Europa League match on Thursday.
The Belgian side Racing Genk is in first place in Group G with six points in two matches. The team opened its tournament on the road against Dynamo Kiev and managed a 1-0 victory. In its home game the team defeated Swiss team Thun 2-1.
Meanwhile Rapid Vienna lost 1-0 against Thun before coming back from a 2-0 deficit against Dynamo Kiev and earning a 2-2 draw at home.
A victory for Genk would give it complete control of Group G as its nine points would guarantee first place through the next round of qualifiers. A draw would potentially leave it vulnerable to a win from Thun in its match against Dynamo Kiev while a loss would only leave it two points ahead of Rapid Vienna.
This is the first meeting between the two sides. Genk has never played against an Austrian side in its history while Rapid has a record of four wins, two draws and four losses against Belgian sides in its competitive history.
Prediction: Rapid Vienna is off to a rough start but is a far better team than it has proven. This will be a hotly contested match but the home team looks too good to write off. Expect Genk to managed a solid 2-0 win at home and seize control of Group G in the Europa League.
