Grand Theft Auto 5 is full of secrets, and one of the game's most signifcant and abundant easter eggs - aliens - is also the source of one of its last remaining mysteries: the writing on Mt. Chilad.
The writing on the wall of the building on top of Mt. Chiliad has fascinated gamers, and has been the source of frequent rumors, especially surrounding the three drawings at the bottom of the painting. The images have sparked the imagination of gamers, and some speculation posits that there's a mystery behind the painting that, if solved, will give players a jetpack.
However, attempts to solve this alleged mystery have not yielded any answers. Players have tried falling through Mt. Chiliad through glitches and clipping bugs to see if the mountain contained secret rooms and tunnels to match the painting, but these have not shown any hidden chambers. The tunnels found are all standard parts of the game, so it looks as though Mt. Chiliad itself doesn't hold the key to the mystery of the aliens.
Users have tried lining up the painting with the map of the game, with various amounts of success. Lining up the painting with the top of the map seems to line up with the locations of secret UFO sightings in the game, but the three main pictures do not line up with anything significant. Some fans have lined up the top of the painting with the location of Mt. Chiliad on the map, which also seemed to provide some success, but the three bottom images continue to stump users.
While some have used the map to try and unlock the alien secrets, others believe the mysterious graffiti drawings near the hippie camp at Sandy Shore hold the key to this enigma. The graffiti seems to be some sort of code, though attempts to figure it out or exactly how to read it have failed, so it looks to be a dead end at this point.
Of course, this painting could mean nothing, and Rockstar could have planted it knowing that users would spend endless hours trying to solve a mystery that simply is not there. Perhaps there is no alien tech or jetpack in Grand Theft Auto 5, and users have wasted their time trying to unlock the mystery of Mt. Chiliad.
