If all goes according to plan, Samsung will have the most Jelly Bean-activated devices on the market in a couple months. The Korean electronics manufacturer is working hard at getting a Jelly Bean update to its key phones. Website SamMobile recently got hold of a pre-release version of an Android Jelly Bean update for the Samsung Galaxy S3, and stated that the official update will be available on August 31.

The report came out on August 16, and warned, "ADVICE of SamMobile is wait for 15 days to get the official updates by KIES or OTA!!!!"

These OTA (over-the-air) updates would be only be available to unlocked, sim card-free phones. For those who have the Samsung Galaxy S3s tied to a carrier, the update will be coming out soon after, as soon as the carriers approve and distribute it.

Earlier reports from SamMobile indicated that the Galaxy S2 would receive the Jelly Bean update sometime in the near future as well. More likely than not, the Galaxy Note will also receive a Jelly Bean update, and the soon-to-unveiled Galaxy Note 2 will certainly be running Jelly Bean at its release or soon after.

If all these devices run Jelly Bean at some point in the future, it would make Samsung the company with the most Jelly Bean devices - a strong marketing tool for them in the imminent iPhone 5 vs. Android smartphone war.

Android 4.1 Jelly Bean introduces a smoother interface as well as new features such as voice-assistant Google Now.

The Galaxy S3 has already made a dent in Apple's smartphone dominance, helping Samsung outsell Apple in smartphones two-to-one in the second quarter of 2012. Samsung is also expected to reveal the Galaxy Note 2 phablet on August 29.
