Samsung is taking preorders on its new Ativ Book 9 Plus Ultrabook, which has a has one of the top-of-the-line Intel Haswell processors: the Core i7. The company says it is shipping the new ultrabook in early November, but specific release date has been proffered yet, according to PC World.
Samsung's Ativ Book 9 Plus is the South Korean company's take on the top of the line Ultrabook - small, high-end, often convertible laptops that feature high resolution displays, bleeding-edge processors, and other heavy hardware specs.
The Samsung Ativ Book 9 Plus comes with a 13.3-inch touchscreen display that has an anti-glare finish and comes with a Full HD resolution of 3200 x 1800p - which is far and above an improvement over the 1600 x 900p screen of Samsung's last Ativ Book.
Powering the device is the Intel Core i7-4500U processor - the newest in the long-awaited generation of Intel Haswell processors, which are faster, more secure, and consume much less power. The standard storage option in the Ativ Book 9 Plus is 256GB of a solid-state drive, and the processor is aided by 8GB of DDR3/1600 memory.
That makes the new version of the Samsung Ativ Book 9 Plus a big improvement over the one that has been available for months: a faster processor, twice as much memory, twice as much internal storage, and a blazing resolution on the screen.
The new Ativ Book 9 is available for pre-order from Samsung, costing a hefty $1799 for all of the hardware specs it packs into a 0.54-inch thick Ultrabook that only weighs a little over 3 pounds.
