On this past Sunday's "Revenge," Emily's latest takedown literally crashes and burns.
In the episode, Aiden (Barry Sloane) confirms that he was still seeing Emily (Emily VanCamp) even after she and Daniel (Joshua Bowman) got engaged, which Victoria (Madeleine Stowe) later tells her son.
Also at Nolan's (Gabriel Mann) party, Jack (Nick Wechsler) is happy that Emily is clearly upset by his semi-date with Margaux. Victoria then arrives with Aiden on her arm. Victoria points out to Daniel that Aiden and Emily "fight as if they're in love." Victoria gets Emily so angry that she "accidentally" blurts out, "the Graysons are completely bankrupt."
The next day, Aiden tells Victoria that after doing more research, it is has been revealed that Emily does not have the Grayson's fortune. Victoria then decides to move Aiden into the Grayson Manor in order to further torture Emily.
But we later learn that--as many predicted-- Aiden only returned and forged an alliance with Victoria at Emily's request. Everything was planned according to Emily's scheme. That is, except for when Aiden spilled about his ongoing affair with Emily.
Near the end of the episode, Conrad (Henry Czerny) tells Victoria that he wants to confess about his role in David's undoing. "So your psychosis has progressed," she says, at first. When it becomes clear that he's serious, she goes into a rage, proceeding to throw vases. But before he and Father Paul can arrive at the police station to confess, they are victims in a near-fatal car crash. When a dumbfounded Emily arrives on the scene, Father Paul appears to be dead, and Conrad is injured.
On the next episode, "Mercy," Emily's relationships are getting increasingly complicated. In the promo, Daniel tells Emily, "You walk out that door, and I'm not gonna be here when you get back." But Emily shoots back at him for being "wrapped up in your family's lies." Jack may also be in danger on the upcoming episode.
Emily must also rely on help from an unlikely source to investigate what went wrong with her latest takedown.
Showrunner Sunil Nayar also hinted to TVLine that the second half of "Revenge's" season would include another mysterious flash-foward. "We're playing with that idea," Nayar said. "But we wanted to make sure that if we did another flash-forward that it was definitively the compelling thing that was going to carry us for the [final] 12 episodes. It's definitely something we're keeping in the hopper, but we haven't committed to anything yet."
TVLine also hinted that Nolan and Patrick is "totally happening."
Watch the promo for "Mercy" below, which airs on October 20 at 9 p.m. on ABC.
