Apple's next mobile operating system, the iOS 6, is just weeks away from release and once again it has gotten Apple fans and consumers to anticipate their next big mobile upgrade.
Release Date
The popular existing belief within the tech world states that the iOS 6 should be available by the time the new iPhone or the iPhone 5 is unveiled.
Various media outlets are reporting that the iPhone 5 would be available for pre-order by September 12th and available for purchase by September 21st meaning that the iOS 6 would be released along with it in those dates.
Apple a few months earlier announced it would release the iOS 6 in the fall. Launching it together with its next big product would presumably be a hit.
Supported Devices and Cost
Like the Apple website states, the iOS 6 will support the following Apple mobile devices:
iPhone 3GS
iPhone 4
iPhone 4S
iPad 2
The new iPad
iPod touch 4th Generation
There will be no cost upgrading to the iOS 6 the same way no cost was placed when upgrading to the iOS 5.1.1
Biggest Changes
The biggest noticeable changes the iOS will suffer from its jump to the iOS 6 are some remarkable game changers for Apple.
Apple Map App
The new map app will replace Google Maps on your device. The new map includes Flyover --a 3D mapping system that creates photographic three-dimensional satellite views over cities. Similar to other standard navigating system but takes don't count on Street View to be available, like Google maps.
New iCloud Features
iCloud is the cornerstone of any Apple OS upgrade. For iOS 6, Apple will now include "Documents in the Cloud" which integrates applications like Pages, Numbers, and Keynote. There will also be new content for calendar, contacts, and other downloaded products.
No More Youtube App
In case you haven't heard, the standard pre-loaded Youtube App will not be available with iOS6. Google is working on a downloadable one that is said to be a major upgrade over the previous incarnations on Apple devices.
Siri
The latest upgrade enables users to receive sports updates, make restaurant reservations, watch movie trailers, and tweet via voice. And later, Apple's new map system will integrate with Yelp, a plus definitely.
Siri will also be available to iPad users with updates and similar features.
New Calling Features
-Decline a call and instantly reply with a text message or set a reminder.
-Tap "Do Not Disturb" and no one will bother you.
-Facetime also becomes available over 3G
New Phone Features
-Wake up to your favorite song via the upgraded alarm clock app
-Alarm clock app also available for the iPad.
