Apple has confirmed an event for Oct. 22 but did not specify their reasons.

According to the invitation sent by Apple Inc., "We still have a lot to cover" is the tagline on the banner.

The invitation shows the upper half of the Apple logo in white with its stem flowing in various colors such as red, blue, yellow, purple, and green.

The invitation does not hint the reasons for the event but reports speculate it would be for the second-generation iPad mini, fifth-generation iPad, and the Haswell-powered MacBook with Retina Display.

The event has been confirmed to start at 1 p.m. EST from the Yerba Buena Center for the Arts in San Francisco, Calif.

No word yet if the event would be streamed live.

As seen during the Sept. 10 event, which saw the debut of the iPhone 5c and iPhone 5s, Apple did not live stream the event despite doing so the year prior and for the reveal of the iPad mini last October.

Latinos Post reported that the Apple event would occur on Oct. 22, and further speculation has Nov. 1 as the official sell date.

Based on reports, the iPad 5 is rumored to be confirmed during the event. The iPad 5 has been speculated to follow a design similar to the current iteration of the iPad mini as its width and depth are expected to slightly shrink with the introduction of a new shell and thinner bezel. The iPad 5 is likely to run on Apple's latest processor, A7X, but no word yet if the tablet will carry the new fingerprint sensor.

As for the iPad mini 2, the 7.9-inch tablet will keep the A6 processor currently utilized on the iPhone 5c and the discontinued iPhone 5.

As Latinos Post reported, Apple has been facing tougher tablet competition as its market share is down considerably when comparing the second quarter of 2013 to the same period last year. Based on the International Data Corporation's (IDC) figures, Apple finished the second quarter this year with 32.4 percent of the market share, which is down from 2012's 60.3 percent.
