While you'll have to wait until September to find out about the release date of the iPhone 5, 9to5mac.com has published leaked pictures of the coveted device's battery to sate your curiosity. As we follow the road to what could potentially be Apple's biggest product launch ever, here's the details that you'll want to know.

What's New?

With a thinner metal design, a smaller dock connect, and a higher capacity battery than the iPhone 4S, the iPhone 5 is set to enter the next-generation of handsets in style.

According to 9to5mac.com, the new battery has a capacity of 1440 mAh, up from the iPhone 4S's 1430 mAh. The iPhone 5 has an increased watts-per-hour measurement, clocking in at 5.45, as opposed to the iPhone 4S's 5.3.

LTE connectivity has also been an area of speculation. The leaked photo shows a battery that is smaller than those for traditional LTE enabled phones; however 9to5mac puts forward the possibility that Apple's new iPhone may have a more efficient chip. Given Apple has made the sufficient technological advances, LTE is still a possibility.

Apple's Big Opportunity

Forbes reports that FBR Capital analyst Craig Berger has called the iPhone 5's launch "one of the largest single product opportunities in Apple's history," estimating that it may sell 250 million units with profits over $50 a share.

Berger speculates that both chip makers (Qaulcomm, Fairchild Semiconductor, Broadcom, Avago, Skyworks, Triquint, Cirrus, TI and ON Semiconductor) and carriers (AT&T, Verizon, and Sprint) will see a boost in their profits as well.

Coming up against the warmly received Samsung Galaxy S III, this holiday season will be a battlefield.
