Hungary will look to defeat Andorra in what could be its final World Cup qualifier on Tuesday.
Hungary can still finish second in the group, but needs a tremendous amount of luck and huge victory on Tuesday. And by huge victory, it means that the team needs to close the gap between its -1 goal differential and Romania's +5 goal difference. Fortunately, Hungary is facing off against the best team possible for this situation as it will take on an Andorra side that has lost all nine matches in qualifying and has conceded 28 goals in the process; Andorra has not scored a single goal either.
Hungary is coming off a tough 8-1 loss against the Netherlands that has put it one draw away from elimination. The embarrassing performance force coach Sándor Egervári to resign from his post, which he has held since July 2010.
"This big defeat was unexpected, especially after the first 15 minutes when we had built up some momentum," said Egervári according to UEFA. "Unfortunately we ran into problems after that and fell apart.
"I've done everything I can with a sense of responsibility, but after such a defeat as this it is only respectful that I offer my resignation," he stated. "This defeat is a blow to Hungarian football so I felt it was my duty to resign. The last three years have not been wasted, but I am sorry that it had to end in this way."
Hungary needs to win by a huge number and hope that Turkey and Romania lose their respective games. Turkey is facing the Netherlands and could suffer a similar fate as Hungary did last week. However, Romania is hosting lowly Estonia and is likely to win its game.
Prediction: Hungary destroyed Andorra 5-0 on the road and should put up a 6-0 scoreline at home with little difficulty.
Start Time: Kick-off starts at 2 p.m. EST
