Looks like Samsung is leading the charge in Jelly Bean updates. Website SamMobile has reportedly confirmed from an inside source that the Galaxy S2 smartphone will be receiving the Jelly Bean update.
The update should come sometime in September or October.
"The tests by Samsung are fine and Samsung will make the public KIES release version," said SamMobile.
SamMobile also states that since the Galaxy S2 will receive the Jelly Bean, there is no reason to believe the Galaxy Note won't.
This would make Samsung the company with the most Jelly Bean-running devices. Even Google, the company that developed the Android Jelly Bean operating system, can't match them.
This would mean that the Samsung Galaxy S3 smartphone, the Galaxy S2, the Galaxy Note, and the Galaxy Note 2 should all have an upgrade to Jelly Bean before the end of 2012.
So far, there isn't any confirmation on Samsung rolling out Jelly Bean updates to any of its tablets. It looks like the company will focus on making its smartphone users happy - and you can't blame them after all the people they've converted away from iPhones with the Galaxy S3 and more.
Android updates are notoriously staggered and delayed thanks to the nature of the open-source operating system. Companies need to tailor the system to each of their devices then bring in the phone carriers to distribute them, and this leads to Android updates coming out at different times across devices. Jelly Bean was introduced earlier this summer. The previous version, Ice Cream Sandwich, came out in the fall of 2011, and is still only on a few Android devices.
Phone maker HTC has also stated that it is working on a Jelly Bean update for its smartphones including the HTC One X and One S.
Tablet manufacturers ASUS, Acer, and Toshiba will also be upgrading some of their devices to the Jelly Bean operating system in the near future.
No exact release dates for any of these Jelly Bean updates are available at the time.
