48-years-old Mexican luchador "Dr. Wagner Jr." was attacked with a knife Tuesday as he arrived at his home, reported sports website Medio Tiempo.
One of the first AAA fighters to make the news public was "The Son of Santo" through his personal Facebook account El Hijo del Santo.
He shared a picture of Dr. Wagner's injured wrist along with the message "Dear friends! Regrettably a few hours ago my colleague Dr. Wagner Jr. was attacked near his house, he was threatened with a knife and was injured on his wrist as he defended himself."
Dr. Wagner himself confirmed what happened through his personal Twitter account @WagnerJrOficial with the message "Effectively, I was the victim of a cowardly attack as I got home. Fortunately I live to tell the tale," along with a picture of his wrist receiving medical attention.
Although Medio Tiempo said they don't know the reason for the attack on the luchador, Son of Santo pointed out that this wasn't a robbery, but an attempt on his life.
"This was in relation to what he told TV cameras referring to his character being stolen in the USA, I know it was not a robbery," he wrote.
Son of Santo showed his support, saying, "Before being rivals on the ring, we're professional colleagues and I wish him a quick recovery! This cowardly attack cannot go unpunished!"
