It’s always inspiring to see people overcome great challenges. No matter in what capacity, it gives us hope for the better. Everyone of us has the ability to grow and conquer the hurdles that impede our paths to happiness. It’s gratifying, self fulfilling, and if captured on television, highly entertaining.

The dust of the “NCIS: LA” premiere has settled. Sam and Deeks have escaped the clutches of terror and are now readjusting to their daily lives. But it’s going to take them some time for them to recover mentally, so other agents will have to step up and fill their shoes during their long, staggered recovery process. And that means fans will be getting more Nell and Eric, who will finally have the opportunity to prove themselves as formidable assets to the NCIS team and jump some major hurdles along the way.

“There is always fun with those characters,” showrunner Shane Brennan told TVLine. “In fact, Nell’s out in the field a couple times this season, and at one point, later in the season, gets a serious moment or two out in the field. She gets to fire her weapon, in anger.”

Meanwhile, Deeks struggles to recalibrate back to his normal life. To make matters more difficult, Hetty and Nate’s concerns concerning his relationship with Kensi will throw a wrench in their blossoming romance.

According to Brennan, “In Episode 4, there’s a scene between Hetty and Granger, where they’re talking about Kensi and Deeks, and basically Hetty says, ‘Partnerships can be tricky.’ So it really cuts deeply into this season, and there are some very, very big surprises and big turns. This is probably the most laid-out season we’ve ever done. We know every turning point of this season and it really is quite powerful.”

“NCIS: LA” airs Tuesdays at 9 p.m. on CBS.
