During an interview with Mamás Latinas, Mexican singer and "X Factor" judge Paulina Rubio opened up about balancing her duties as a successful artist and designer with motherhood.
"I have a family and priorities like everyone else, but I try to organize myself better than most," the 42-year-old told Mamás Latinas. "And I'm also very passionate - when I'm with my son I don't want to do anything else. When I'm working - I also enjoy it. If I'm singing or exercising-even when I'm traveling-I enjoy the most of it. I am very present here and now."
"La Chica Dorada" believes family always comes first. "It's just about trying to organize yourself in a different way when you have a son and he becomes a priority," said Rubio, who has a 2-year-old son named Andrea Nicolás. "I'm very organized," added the star, who confessed Yoga helps her take it all in stride.
Rubio also said she has given fellow judge Simon Cowell some parenting tips, since he's expecting his first child with girlfriend Lauren Silverman. "He's going to breastfeed - he told me," she joked. "He knows which vitamins he needs to take, so that he will have great milk. I think he's going to be a very caring dad," she said.
Rubio, who also served as a coach in "La Voz México" and "La Voz Kids," has been in the music business for over 25 years. Last month, she said her "fierce attitude" was going to surprise the "X Factor" audience.
"They will be surprised that I have been in the music industry for so long... that I'm outspoken and I'm not intimidated by anything, that I am very loyal to my feelings and who I am," she said, according to NBC Latino.
"The hardest thing is just to talk with your heart and tell them when they don't have the talent," said the singer. "But they are coming for professional advice so I decided to be constructive and positive. I always say the positive first, then the negative."
"I think you need to talk with your heart. I have to transmit how I feel when [contestants] perform in front of me and give them good advice so they can come out of the audition with a good experience."
