Sony has premiered a new trailer for the upcoming film "American Hustle."
The new film stars Jeremy Renner, Amy Adams, Christian Bale, Bradley Cooper and Amy Adams and tells the story of a con artist and his partner in crime who are forced to work with a federal agent to turn the tables on other cons, mobsters and politicians.
The film has created a lot of buzz but has not screened for critics and skipped the festival circuit. However, positive word has come out after recent test screenings. According to Ain't It Cool News "the film's resemblance to 'Boogie Nights' goes beyond the '70s backdrop and soundtrack; the story starts off light and poppy, making you feel the excitement of their swindles, but when the stakes get higher and higher, the darkness and tension starts to get thick enough to cut through with a knife." Commenters also said that the film featured Oscar-worthy performances, and some even went as far as saying "this very well may be David O. Russell's masterpiece."
"American Hustle" is thought be a major Oscar contender with many pundits predicting it to win the Best Picture award. Additionally it is also predicted to get nominations for Jennifer Lawrence, Amy Adams, Bradley Cooper and Jeremy Renner.
The movie reunites "Silver Linings Playbook" co-stars Lawrence, Cooper and Robert De Niro. It also reunites Adams and Bale after working with Russell on "The Fighter."
"American Hustle" was directed by Russell and also stars Louis C.K., Alessandro Nivola, Elisabeth Rohm, Dawn Olivieri, Jack Huston and Michael Pena.
The movie is scheduled for a release on Dec. 13 in limited release and nationwide on Dec. 25.
