Another character joining the cast of "The Mindy Project" may attract Mindy's interest.
Larenz Tate will guest star on "The Mindy Project" as Tracy Whitfield, a politician running for Congress who does not see eye-to-eye with Mindy (Mindy Kaling) on multiple issues, Entertainment Weekly reports. However, Tracy's disarming charisma may get Mindy to have a change of heart.
Larenz Tate played Malcolm on "House of Lies" and Bart on "Rescue Me."
While Mindy may get distracted by Tracy's smooth talking, Mindy will continue to have sexual tension with Danny (Chris Messina) in the upcoming season. But Danny will be focused on getting back out into the dating world and dating new people now that he is split from Christina (Chloe Sevigny). But viewers have not seen the last of Danny's ex.
"Danny is excited to get back out there," writer and star Ike Barinholtz told TVGuide. "He goes a little slow at first because I think he's a little beaten up." But right when he thinks he's fully recovered, she'll show up again. "We have not seen the last of Christina," Barinholtz said. "She will come back ... to kind of torture him one final time."
The most recent episode of "The Mindy Project," called "Music Festival," focused on Casey (Anders Holm) leaving the church to become a D.J. The gang attended a rowdy musical festival where Casey was deejaying, which resulted in Morgan (Ike Barinholtz) accidentally taking drugs via a cupcake. After performing at the festival, Casey decided he no longer wanted to D.J. Instead, he said he wanted to move to Texas to study event planning. Fed up with his constant changes, Mindy told Casey that she can't keep changing her life for him, so they agree to break off the engagement.
The next episode is called "Magic Morgan." The synopsis for the next episode reads:
"One mistake with Morgan could lead Mindy to a lifetime of happiness on an all-new 'The Mindy Project.'"
According to Morgan, anybody who sleeps with him will find the love of their life immediately afterwards. Mindy is curious to test this theory, so she takes Morgan up on his offer. Yet, Mindy backs out at the last minute, which humiliates Morgan and makes him want to sue Mindy for sexual harassment. In order to get back in his good graces, Mindy makes him an offer that he really can't refuse.
"The Mindy Project" airs Tuesdays at 9:30 p.m. on Fox.
