Arsenal managed to remain atop first place in the Premier League thanks to a late goal from Jack Wilshere against West Bromwich Albion.
Arsenal's 10-game winning streak was snapped, but the team managed to run its unbeaten streak to 11 games dating back to the opener against Aston Villa; in that game the Gunners were stunned 3-1 at home.
Things did not get off to a great start for Arsenal against West Bromwich. The home side looked aggressive and confident, almost as if it were still feeding off its 2-1 win over Manchester United from last week. Just minutes before halftime, Albion's Claudio Yacob scored a goal to give his side a 1-0 lead.
Arsenal struggled in the opening half but looked to be the stronger team in the second half. At the 63-minute mark, Wilshere fired a 20-yard shot that was deflected into the opposing net and tied the score for the Gunners.
"He had a difficult first half but he has shown he has character and he kept going. It is good he was rewarded," said Arsenal Coach Arsene Wenger about Wilshere, according to ESPN. "I don't think he will ever be a goalscorer. He is a player who can create chances and provide chances for others. That is as important."
Arsenal finished the night with 16 points in seven games; they are tied with Liverpool for first place and only lead Chelsea and Southampton by two points for the lead. After the international break, Arsenal will head home to host Norwich City.
