Christina Aguilera will grace the cover of the November issue of Redbook magazine. During an in-depth interview, the 32-year-old star dished about motherhood, returning for a new season of NBC's "The Voice," and why she chose to leave the competition show during the previous season.

Aguilera reportedly lost over 15 pounds in the last couple of months, after sticking to a very healthy diet and a strict workout regime. However, she was clear about working out not being a priority in her life. "If I have to choose between working out and spending time with my son after a hard day, it's not even a question."

"I have spoken honestly about being born into a home where there was discord and chaos. I saw my mom have a rough time with my dad being very controlling, which is why I push back whenever I feel like someone is trying to box me in. It makes me run for the hills," said the singer, who confessed being a protective mom of her 5-year-old son, Max Liron.

The singer also explained why she decided to take some time off her duties as a judge on "The Voice," during Season 4. "I needed to decompress, wind down the clock and just breathe. I needed to find out who I am outside of that red chair," said Aguilera, who was replaced by Colombian superstar Shakira. "We did three seasons, and I wanted to disengage and have my life back and be with my son-put my sweatpants on and wipe my makeup off."

But for the new season of the Emmy award-winning show, Aguilera rushed to fill her spot alongside co-judges CeeLo Green, Adam Levine, and Blake Shelton. "I know these guys so well, they really are like my brothers, no joke. There's a 12 year-old-boy in me who loves to come out and play with them."

Last month, the singer told NBC Latino that what she missed most about the show were "the boys for sure." "We are like an extended family and when CeeLo and I returned, it was like we picked up right where we left off," said Aguilera.
