The USA Network can expect a lot more "Covert Affairs" coming its way.
TVLine confirms that popular spy drama "Covert Affairs" has been renewed for a fifth season. Season five will consist of 16 episodes.
"Covert Affairs" had its season four midseason finale, called "Levitate Me," in mid-September.
In the episode, Calder's (Hill Harper) lack of allegiance to Henry Wilcox (Gregory Itzin) became clear, and in effect, so did the scene in the beginning of the season that showed Calder ostensibly killing Annie (Piper Perabo) in an elevator. Annie was faced with an enemy who managed to lie and bribe his way back into the DPD, so she decided to fake her death and approach Henry from a different angle. Annie is now free to approach Henry in a more fearless and clandestine way, since he now believes that she's gone for good.
Many fans surmise that Auggie (Christopher Gorham) is probably in on Annie's plan, especially after he gave her a lecture on how to keep off the radar.
After most likely losing his first son, Arthur (Peter Gallagher) returned to the states to go to sit in jail, while everyone was in a frenzy about his non-existent betrayal. Meanwhile, the stress of possibly losing Teo (Manolo Cardona) and visiting her husband in prison landed Joan (Kari Matchett) in the hospital.
Annie has now gone off book to complete a mission in the most extreme way possible. She has gone off book before, but never in such a drastic way. Although she could "come back from the dead," it is easier said that done, as evidenced by Auggie's ex, Helen, "coming back from the dead" earlier this season.
Will Annie be forced to remain dead to her sister and her family? Is Auggie in on Annie's plan? Is Teo really dead?
Find out when the fourth season resumes on October 17 on the USA Network.
