Kristen Stewart has put her career in jeopardy for her "momentary indiscretion" after Universal Studios announced that she would be dropped from the next "Snow White and the Huntsman" sequel.
That's right. Snow White has been dropped from her own film. According to an exclusive report from the Hollywood Reporter, the studio has decided to move on with the franchise without its headliner and will look to focus on the Huntsman of the title, giving rising star Chris Hemsworth the lead and allowing Oscar Winner Charlize Theron some more screen time. While the studio made no formal announcement as to why Stewart was dropped, there can be little doubt that her latest headlines have a lot to do with it.
The original plan was for a "Snow White" sequel after the first film grossed in a modest $389 million worldwide on a $170 million budget. It is rare that a studio drops its major star between the first and second installment of a franchise, especially someone of Stewart's celebrity.
The report did not state if Director Rupert Sanders would return, but if such a celebrity like Stewart is getting the boot for her unprofessional behavior then a lesser known director like Sanders can probably start looking for more work. What's more important here is that a studio decided to drop their biggest celebrity and thus making a major statement to the rest of Hollywood about professional conduct. While other studios might go after Stewart, it is more likely that they will shun her for her immaturity, thus putting her career in serious jeopardy.
Stewart and Sanders revealed that they had an affair during the shooting of "Snow White and the Huntsmen." The affair created massive outrage throughout the entertainment world with Stewart taking the brunt of the damage while Sanders got to sit on the sideline and avoid the ire of the press. Stewart's three year relationship with "Twilight" co-star Robert Pattinson was put on hold when Pattinson left their new home and stated that he was disappointed and hurt.
