Despite the buzz that Samsung is putting on its own Galaxy Note 2 and Apple's impending iPhone 5 release, the Galaxy S3 is still the state of the art phone on the market.
Even though the phone has been making record sales, there are still quite a few people out there that have yet to purchase the phone. Here are a few reasons to purchase one.
Top Phone on the Market
If the rumors are true and the iPhone 5 is slated for a September 21 release date, then consumers still have to wait for over a month to upgrade their phone. Why not go with a phone that is available and provides a lot of features that the iPhone won't have. iPhone 5 is said to have a 4 inch screen. S3 has a 4.8 inch screen.
Furthermore, the Samsung S3 can be charged wirelessly, a factor that is not available for any iPhones. For those who do not like the wireless charging, the S3 offers the opportunity to charge with standard USB cable. Apple won't permit that with the iPhone. The Samsung S3 has a removable battery and has 49 percent more battery power than the iPhone 5 according to Versusio.com.
The S3 also has Adobe Flash, software missing from the Apple phones. It also has a micro SD slot to help transfer information (something else lacking in the iPhone 5) and can act as a WIFI hotspot. **Correction** The iPhone 4s cannot act as a mobile hotspot unless it is 'jailbroken'. iPhone 5 will probably continue the same model as well.
For videophiles, the S3 also offers HDMI output which allows videos and movies downloaded on the phone to be watched on TVs at the highest possible resolution. The iPhone does not offer that. The S3 is also said to have higher screen resolution than iPhone 5. The iPhone 5 offers 640x1136 pixels while the S3 offers 720x1280. That's 27 percent higher resolution from the S3.
Jelly Bean
The S3 will get Jelly Bean on August 29th according to reports. Android 4.1 Jelly Bean is Google's latest version of their popular Android operating system for smartphones and tablets. It offers smoother, more visually-pleasing performance, and comes with Google's voice-assistant, Google Now, and the ability to take advantage of NFC and wirelessly transfer data with a bump. Those considering waiting for the Note 2 should know that there is no confirmation on whether or not the new operating system will come to the "phablet."
Price
The iPhone 5 has already been rumored to cost a whopping $800+. The S3 hovers below $700 in cost. That is without considering plans. With plans, the rates are slated to drop significantly, but even then S3 wins that battle. None of the models cost upward of $300 under any plan for the S3. But the iPhone 4S has a few plans that ride up in the $300. And that is the "old" generation iPhone. One can only imagine what the cheapest cost for an iPhone 5 will be when it is released.
And as an added bonus, Samsung has announced that their latest phone will also be coming in black.
