The HTC One Max will be the latest device to try and make a name for itself in the rapidly expanding phablet market, and a new seemingly accidental leak indicates that the phone will have a new feature that could help it stand out.
Luke Wood, the president and COO of Beats Electronics, recently sat down with Stuff magazine to discuss their products, and let it slip that the company will be bringing Beats Audio to a "large-format HTC device," which is almost certainly the HTC One Max:
"...we still have a commercial deal with them, around the HTC One and several new devices coming out this fall. We have a large-format HTC device out in the fall (Presumably the HTC One Max) - I don't even know if they've announced it yet - so we're still on that device."
While Wood refused to confirm that the unnamed device is the HTC One Max, there is no other large format device that HTC has been rumored to be working on, so unless HTC is hiding something very well it can be presumed Wood is talking about the HTC One Max.
The COO also had very complimentary things to say about the company as a whole, even as he said he was unsure if Beats and HTC will continue to work together:
"We learned a lot of great things with HTC. Right now I can't comment as to whether that relationship will continue or not continue, but for Beats, it's been very productive, because we've done a lot of work [on HTC phones] and I'm very proud of the way those devices sound."
Beats Audio is one of the premier audio companies right now, and having a superior audio experience could help the HTC One Max gain ground in the phablet market, as it will help improve music sound crisp on the device for those who want to use it as a massive MP3 player. In addition, Beats Audio allow anyone watching videos on the phone's 5.9-inch Full HD display to hear every pin drop.
The HTC One Max will have many other features besides Beats Audio. The device will have a fingerprint scanner for unlocking the phablet, a Qualcomm Snapdragon 600 and the Android 4.3 operating system.
