Although CNN en Español presenter Carmen Aristegui used her newscast on 52MX to let Televisa talk show host Laura Bozzo know she will no longer participate in their very public feud, that began when Aristegui accused Bozzo of staging a show by venturing into the state of Guerrero to help out victims of the storm "Manuel" that hit Mexico, the Peruvian TV personality is eager to keep on talking about the issue.
During an interview with Mexican newspaper "El Universal," Bozzo claimed she is not a liar, but a "motivator of solidarity in Mexico," unlike Carmen Aristegui. "She hasn't even left her office, she hasn't gotten her shoes wet for helping people, she's someone who thinks she is the Virgin Mary," said Bozzo.
"Mine was as simple as that when I arrived at the collection center to approach the 'Relámpago' team, they already knew who I was. I said: 'I want to enlist because I've worked with Los Topos, I want to help.' I was not talking crap. I reiterate that the governor of the state of México, Eruviel Ávila, did not sponsor my transfers," said Bozzo, according to El Universal.
She also insisted on challenging Aristegui: "This that she and many other people have done will not be so. I'll take it to the extreme, from my name no one will make profits and nobody will mess my name up. If Aristegui believes she is the Virgin Mary and the totem, she should come down to the people. She should come down from her wonderful pedestal to see if somebody knows who she is."
In social networks, Bozzo was fiercely criticized by users who used memes to ridicule the scenes where the Peruvian TV host appears in relief efforts.
"It's so easy: 'Oh, Twitter, oh social networking.' I am a people person, an underdog, from the neighborhood," Bozzo fought back, and added that the communities that she visited don't even know "what Aristegui is."
Bozzo also trashed Proceso, the magazine whose journalists accused her of staging a show. "It's Proceso, I will not lower myself to a magazine that aims to benefit their political beliefs. I don't answer to people that works for political slogan. I know many journalists that have been on helicopters of the governor of Guerrero, which is not bad if it is to raise public awareness."
