The newest season of "The Mindy Project" is not skimping on the relationship drama.
The second episode of the second season, titled, "The Other Dr. L," involved a drunken night, one character passing out in his underwear and...Kris Humphries? (Yes, Kim Kardashian's basketball hunk ex-husband guest starred on the episode).
The episode featured Mindy (Mindy Kaling) and Casey (Anders Holm) trying a little bit of sexy time, via Skype, which doesn't quite turn out as they hope.
The next day, Jeremy (Ed Weeks) refuses to fire Paul (James Franco), and as a compromise with Mindy, decides to give her a new office. But there is one problem: the "office" is actually a storage closet.
Danny (Chris Messina) then says he's going to the post office, but mysteriously says that he'll be out of contact. Jeremy follows him and discovers that Danny is actually sneaking out of the office to play basketball with a group of divorced men, including Mindy's ex, Tom (Bill Hader), and real basketball star and divorcee Kris Humphries.
Later, everyone goes out the bar, and Mindy holds her own while Paul and Danny get plastered. While Paul is seemingly out cold in front of his door, Mindy can't help but kiss him. Christina (Chloe Sevigny) finds Paul pants-less in the hallway the later that night.
That morning, Paul confesses to Mindy that he had sex with Christina last night. Paul feels so guilty about the situation that he tells Danny that he's quitting the practice to join the army, which of course, Danny does not believe. Paul finally admits the truth to Danny that he slept with Christina, which causes Danny to punch him in the face.
After Jeremy refuses to fire Paul, Danny quits. Mindy goes after Danny to try to convince him to come back, but Danny won't budge until he gets some oddly wise advice from Kris Humphries. Danny agrees to return, but Paul leaves the office after quitting via voicemail.
The next episode of "The Mindy Project" will be called "Music Festival," and it will focus on Casey returning from Haiti and having a bit of an identity crisis. In "Music Festival," Casey's lack of direction upon returning from Haiti causes some issues for him and Mindy's relationship.
The official synopsis for the episode reads:
"After returning from Haiti, Casey (guest star Anders Holm) has an identity crisis and thinks being a disc jockey might be his new calling. When Mindy and the office go to a music festival for their "work retreat" to see Casey perform, the substance-filled surroundings lead to a series of disasters. Meanwhile, back in New York, Jeremy hires a new doctor (guest star Adam Pally), whom Mindy doesn't particularly like after he saves the day during an emergency delivery in the all-new "Music Festival" episode of 'The Mindy Project.'"
In other "Mindy Project" news, Saturday Night Live's Vanessa Bayer will be guest starring on an upcoming episode.
The SNL cast member and Miley Cyrus impersonator will play Danny's potential love interest, according to TVLine.
Bayer, who is enjoying her fourth season on SNL, is the newest addition to a host of new guest cast members, including Glenn Howerton ("It's Always Sunny In Philadelphia"), Timothy Olyphant ("Justified") and Ben Feldman ("Mad Men").
"The Mindy Project" airs on Tuesday nights on Fox.
