It’s easy to think back on the summer, on an easier time when new possibilities and excitement lurked around every corner. Now that the daunting realization that it’s September has settled, the prospect of winter looms overhead, and those warm memories fade into taunting reminders. But as the cool air settles, so do the tantalizing tingles of the approaching holiday season. The savory wafts of Thanksgiving turkey tickle your nose. The sweet sound of cackling wrapping paper instill images of Christmas. And old bed sheets with cut out eyes make their way out of the closet as preparations for the most autumn associated holiday begin.
Before the smoked turkey and glazed ham hits the holiday dinner table, the ghouls and goblins take to the streets lined with the eerie glow of menacing Jack O'Lanterns. The orange colors, brisk autumn air and spooky themes are synonymous to the season, and to add to the aesthetic, fans are preparing for the return of the horror drama series “The Following.”
As anticipation continues to build, two brand new promos hint at “a new face of evil” and ominous themes. One that particularly catches the eye, a fiery, melting Poe mask. Does that mean that Edgar Allen Poe will be absent from Season 2, making room for a new face of evil? You can check out both promos for yourself here.
For those new to the series, “The Following” centers on former FBI agent Ryan Hardy, played by Kevin Bacon, and his attempt to capture serial killer Joe Carroll, who’s played by James Purefoy and recently escaped from prison. While teaching in prison, Carroll gained a group of followers who he converted to a cult of fanatical killers. When Carroll’s son, Joey, is abducted by his father’s followers, the FBI learns that the kidnapping is only the first step in Carroll’s master plan to escape from prison, humiliate Hardy and murder his ex-wife.
“The Following” returns to Fox in January.
