William Shatner wants to be Alfred in "Batman vs. Superman."
In an interview with Fox Business, the actor said he wanted to play Batman's butler. "... I heard somebody said I wanted [to play Alfred]. Well, why not?" said Shater.
Shatner added that if he was offered the role he would negotiate.
It was not the first time Shater has acknowledged his interest in playing the role of Alfred. After Ben Affleck was cast as Batman, Shatner tweeted, "@BenAffleck Congratulations! If you need an Alfred let me know! ;-) - William Shatner (@WilliamShatner)"
Alfred was previously portrayed by Michael Caine in the filmmaker Christopher Nolan's "Dark Knight" trilogy and by Michael Gough in Tim Burton and Joel Schumacher's "Batman" movies.
Timothy Dalton of "The Tourist" and "Hot Fuzz" is currently rumored to play Alfred in the film.
Shatner has been seen in "Miss Congeniality," "Osmosis Jones," "Showtime," "Stalking Santa" and "Over the Hedge." He has also starred in "Hot in Cleveland," "The Captains Close Up" and "Horrorween."
"Batman vs. Superman" is currently in pre-production with Charles Roven and Deborah Snyder slated to produce. The film will star Affleck, Henry Cavill, Amy Adams, Diane Lane and Laurence Fishburne. The movie's music will be written by Hans Zimmer, while casting will be done by Kristy Carlson. Larry Fong recently signed on as the director of photography. The movie will begin shooting at the beginning of the year in Detroit. Warner Bros. will release "Batman vs. Superman" on July 17, 2015.
