HTC is currently focused on an all out smartphone war with fellow Android handset manufacturers in a market that users quickly realize is fraught with fragmentation and slow updates. While companies like HTC and Samsung do their best to keep older models updated, it's not always possible. If one insider is correct, it could be a long time - maybe forever - before the older HTC One X flagship phone receives Android 4.3.
According to the well-known HTC modder LlabTooFeR, who responded to a question by a fellow Tweeter regarding whether the rumors of Android 4.3 for the HTC One X before the end of the year were true, the HTC One X will definitely not receive Android 4.3 in 2013

This isn't too much of a surprise, considering that HTC One Xs are in a perilously fragmented state, with a large number running Android 4.2 worldwide and a small subset (such as those tied to U.S. carrier AT&T) still stuck on Android 4.1.2.
This is also not the first time that LlabTooFeR hasn't had encouraging words for HTC One X owners. The insider revealed that he had no idea whether HTC is even considering upgrading the One X to Android 4.3, something that doesn't bode well given LlabTooFeR's finger on HTC's pulse.
It's also unclear whether the HTC One X will receive Sense 5.5. A carrier mistakenly stated it would be releasing Android 4.2.2 with Sense 5.5 earlier this month, although the company has now amended the webpage to read Sense 5, not Sense 5.5. We'll simply have to wait and see how far HTC is willing to go with the One X, and whether the handset will ever get Android 4.3 or Sense 5.5.
