Betrayal is full of nuance. On the surface, it can be compared to the deadly sins. In can destroy the foundation of the strongest friendships. The repercussions ripple on as time passes, never finding a shore on which to crash. But there are particular instances when betrayal is the only option. It’s for the greater good. The pitfall of one man can save the lives of a dozen others, but even then there are consequences. The answer is never clear. The decision is left to the one bold enough to betray their brethren, and more often than not, they’re wrong.
This week’s episode of “Sons of Anarchy” ended in a shocking twist as Jax sacrificed a fellow SAMCRO member for, what he believes, the good of the club. If you’ll remember, Tig, the member in question, killed one of the men of the Persian torture porn ring in the premiere episode, and this week it came back to haunt him. Through a series of the usual “Sons of Anarchy” killings, Tig ends up driving out to the porn studio to pick up the leftover equipment, where he’s met by an deadly crew on through Jax’ dealings. End scene.
It’s unclear what will become of Tig, but Kim Coates shares as many details as he can for those who simply can’t wait until next week to find out. And things don’t look good as Coates informs viewers that they should be very worried for Tig.
“Look, the greatest thing about [creator] Kurt Sutter['s writing] is that just when you think you know what’s happening, you don’t know what’s happening,” Coates said. “Just when you think you know what’s going to go down, it doesn’t go down. So, I will leave you with that. By the end of the third episode, everyone must think, ‘That’s it. Oh my God, please no.’ But just keep watching because sh-t always seems to happen… This biker world that we live in is so crazy that anything can turn on a dime. And things do turn.”
“Sons of Anarchy” airs Tuesday nights on FX.
