For those “Vampire Diaries” fans who can’t wait to sink their teeth into a brand new season, there’s even more on the menu. The spin-off series “The Originals” will debut next month alongside its vampire counterpart on The CW. It will host the original vampires from Mystic Falls, including Klaus and Elijah. Same characters, same drama. Now in order to help prepare for the the double dosage of vampire carnage, here a few things to look for in the new series, “The Originals.”
As many fans may have feared, Klaus will have to confront his daddy issues once again when Sebastian Roche returns in a flashback as the Original father Mikael Mikaelson, TV Guide reports. “We’ll certainly get a better idea of why Klaus has turned out the way he has,” Joseph Morgan, who plays Klaus, said. “One scene in particular, filmed in the woods in the dead of night, will hopefully help people to empathize a little more with this bloodthirsty, murdering sociopath I play.”
"There's a lot of history and love in the past," Morgan said when talking about his character’s quest to take over the city he once ruled. "Coming back to New Orleans and trying to kick [Marcel] off the throne, [Klaus] has mixed feelings about the whole thing. That's what allows them to have this heart-to-heart with undercurrents of, 'I kind of want to kill you.'"
For diehard “Vampire Diaries” fans, executive producer Julie Plec compares Klaus’ relationship with Marcel to the one he shares with Stefan in Mystic Falls. "It wasn't deliberate, but in a beautiful way you understand with the history between Klaus and Marcel, why Klaus connected so quickly to Stefan," Plec said. "It's also retroactively making ‘The End of the Affair’ episode make so much more sense."
