Following on the heels of Verizon, AT&T and T-Mobile, U.S. carrier Sprint has finally announced a release date for the highly-anticipated Samsung Galaxy Note 3 smartphone.

The nation's third largest wireless carrier will sell the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 beginning Oct. 4 for the price of $350 with a two-year contract. If that sounds expensive, it's because it is. Both Verizon and AT&T are offering the Galaxy Note 3 for a cheaper $300 with a two-year contract and T-Mobile's new business plan scraps contracts (although customers do end up paying for the full price of the phone over a period of time). Sprint still isn't taking pre-orders, but those interested in purchasing a Sprint Galaxy Note 3 can head over to the Sprint Galaxy Note 3 webpage to sign up to receive alerts regarding when the device will become available for pre-order or purchase.

Sprint will be the third U.S. carrier to release the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 in the United States. AT&T kicks off its Galaxy Note 3 launch Oct. 1, followed by T-Mobile Oct. 2. Verizon will once again be the last of the big four to release a device, launching its Galaxy Note 3 Oct. 10.

The Samsung Galaxy Note 3 is the latest iteration in a series that kickstarted the whole "bigger is better" Android smartphone craze. While the overall design remains the same, Samsung has opted for a more leathery journal feel, moving away from plastic.

The Galaxy Note 3 sports an even-bigger 5.7-inch 1080p Full HD display, a 2.3GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor, 3GB RAM and 32GB internal storage. The rear-facing camera shoots at 13 megapixels and the Galaxy Note 3's front-facing camera takes stills at a decent 1.9 megapixels. The Galaxy Note 3 will ship with LTE connectivity, a brand new S Pen electronic stylus and Android 4.3 right out of the box.
