It’s time to get nerdy. Not only is school back in full swing, but television’s most intellectually witty program is returning for its 7th season. “The Big Bang Theory” has long dominated the comedy sitcom realm and continues to pick up steam as it matures.

Last night, at the 65th annual Primetime Emmy Awards, “The Big Bang Theory” made quite the splash. It’s multiple nominations were crowned with a win for Jim Parsons, who plays Sheldon on the show and snagged the Emmy for Best Actor in a Comedy. Lucky for fans who missed the ceremony, TVLine caught up with Parsons on the red carpet where the actor dished several details about his dicey relationship with Amy.

“I do end up telling people, colleagues of Amy Farrah Fowler, because he thinks it’s a good thing to tell them, that they’ve got a good relationship and a physical one and that one time he spanked her,” Parsons said. “Which I did. And I think his willingness to admit that explains how he felt about that. It needed to happen. It wasn’t pleasurable. It hurts me more than it hurts you.”

Although Parsons claimed that it hurts Sheldon more than Amy, played by Mayim Bialik, may disagree. “Oh no she loved it. Are you kidding me?” he said despite major skepticism. “That episode goes out on a spanking last year with her going, ‘Oh my.’”

Even more skepticism prompted Parsons to snap back with a minor quip, but it was all fun and games. “Well I hope you can get her here and ask her,” he tacked onto the end. Check out the interview for yourself below.

“The Big Band Theory” returns to CBS this Thursday, September 26.
